I have a similar problem. I am installing the Plan9 III distribution on a Gateway 2000 using the Vita Nuova distribution, which has gotten me much further than the aux/vga step I was stuck at before. Now at the configarch step, the installation does not recognize the CD-ROM. The log ends with Mounting kfs filesystem from /dev/sdC0/fs Mounting kfs filesystem /dev/sdC0/9fat on /n/dist The CD is not mounted. The distribution CD is in the CD reader. ;-) In the installation, I do not see where to mount the CD, either in a new window or in the browse. How can I get the install to recognize the CD-ROM? I didn't find any list of supported CD-ROMs. I have a Goldstar CD-ROM GCD-R540. It uses the Enhanced IDE interface. Was able to read it under Win98 and make the boot disk. I am using the default Vita Nuova plan9.ini file. I attached the state of the configuration and the plan9.ini. Any help would be appreciated.
