The SPARC installation should be no problem. However, there are serious problems in Sun's handling of the disk partition table on x86 systems, since Solaris 2.4 if not earlier. If you can use some other tool to create the right partition types before starting Solaris installation, it should work better. You don't really need an x86-boot partition, if you ignore the "Web Start" CD-ROM and use the Software CD-ROM # 1 instead.
