you guys seen this yet? looks like caldera is opening up the
source code to unix v1-7 and 32v. now if you could just find
a pdp-11 to load it on. :-)

That's great! I thought that the SCO license was fairly liberal, but this
is even more so. I'd really like to see the later Research releases become
available (v8, v9, 10th Ed). I think they'd be pretty interesting from an
educational perspective.

You'd need a VAX too. It'd be fun to see the original 32V source.

You can run the old systems in an emulator. In fact, I had a 7th edition and
a 6th edition running during the famous and feared Night of December 31st
1999 ;-) ;-)
For info about emulators, try:

Nothing exploded, no black hole ate me...

In the past 10 days I have acquired a MicroVAX 3100-30,
MicroVAX II BA23 rackmount, and VAXStation 2000.
I have just finished looking inside them and figuring out
what I need to get them running. I was planning on
running some version of OpenVMS on them. Would I
be able to use the caldera unix release? Would
there be any benefit? I am not really concerned about
performance; just want to do this for historic reasons.

Or a simulation (SIMH has one).
