Actually this happens to me too but not when I use the floppy install. It appears to be related to the CD driver. I reported this sometime this summer I recall, along with another person. People suggested that perhaps DMA being on or off was a issue on the CD drive but my motherboard didn't have DMA support until about a month or two ago when Russ added it to sources.
