Well, it happened.

We got 10(?) people.

Many thanks to the attendees.

Particular thanks go to
Charles for a great talk on dynamic loading.
	Alberto for photographs.
	Matt for networking
	Everyone else for being there!

No thanks at all go to:
Arsenal for having their victory parade on the Sunday
	(my birthday too!).

Right, now to start planning for next year ...

Cheers,
	Dave.

 Hi,

First of all let me introduce myself: my name is Sérgio, I'm from Portugal and I've been 'monitoring' this list for a while. I like what I see in Plan9 BUT I still hadn't the courage (and mainly the time) to install it in my computer (I don't even know if it can run Plan9: I've got to read the Web pages...)

As for these meetings, I leave you a suggestion (that may or may not be viable).

At MeetUp ( http://www.meetup.com ) one can register his interest in a specific topic and a specific city, and the site periodically and automatically generates meetings one can go.

MeetUp lists hundreds of cities around the world (in Portugal, there're 3 available); as for topics, there're thousands of them (categorized)... Plan9 is not among them :-( but we can easily suggest it ( at http://www.meetup.com/suggest/topic ).

I think that the topic "Plan9" should be created by someone that has some responsability over it, but if no one goes forward, and there're people interested, I could suggest it.

Please note that MeetUp only organizes a meeting when, for a city, there're three or more persons interested in a topic.

English is not my primary language, so I don't think I can explain these concepts as I should... So the best you can do is to go to MeetUp's site, browse the site, check the topic list and the nearest city and use it...

 Check these:
	Meetup Top 5 questions: http://www.meetup.com/faq/top5/
	Meetup Frequent Questions: http://www.meetup.com/faq/
	From the FAQ:
		What is a Meetup?
It's a local gathering of a group of people brought
together by a common interest. Real world, face-to-face,
maybe over coffee or a beer.

		Where are Meetups?
Meetups happen in hundreds of cities around the world.
At local cafés, bars, bowling alleys, donut shops,
dog-friendly spots, videogame displays, and lots of
other places. People vote on where their local Meetup
		will take place.

		When are Meetups?
Most Meetups are weekday evenings or Saturdays. Meetups
are on the same day everywhere. Most topics have a Meetup
		Day every month.
	Meetup Topics > Internet & Technology > Software: http://www.meetup.com/browse/intech/sw/

I hope someone from Porto-Portugal is reading this and interested... I'd be very interested in getting some "live" information/help about Plan9...

 Regards from Portugal,

     Sérgio Ribeiro
     Porto - Portugal

PS. Is there information somewhere, about how to proceed to have dual-booting sistems (Win/Plan9)?

// no plans for 9conusa or 9connj?

good idea. unless i missed something, 9conlon (i prefer lon9con, but the former seems to be sticking more) was organized by a local and attended by semi-locals (at least by residence). so the obvious follow-on to your question is: great, who's setting it up?

the clock has now been started. think we can get USeast, US west, and asia within one year?
