Please, don't assume that people are responding in bad faith :)
The fullness of the arena disc directly correlates to how bad writing
the index will be, because the index is a tiny fraction of the size of

Maybe this is true, but I've seen no evidence of it, and I've been
running old-venti on SSDs for several years without a single failure.
Do you have any evidence to back this up?
