Heya,
I'm running Plan9 under VMware (workstation 5.5.1).
The host is 32bit Linux on an AMD64 Compaq Presario V2000.
Once I get "/bin/init" or whatever printed to the console,
the machine just hangs. I can hit the return key and the
console will draw it, but I can't tell where the hang is.
Ideas?

You would better use Version 4.5.3 build 19414. That one works for sure.

5.5.1 works for me on my desktop machine with no problems. I'm
assuming the issue has more to do with my laptop's ACPI and
processor than anything else.

Hola,
to get vmware workstation 5.5.1 (windows, don't knowth the build), I
just needed to set the cdrom to scsi emulation and to do echo hwaccel
off > /dev/vgactl with that it works fine here.

I knew about the hwaccel bug, but the CDROM issue seemed to be
what hindered my progress. Now, plan9 loads just fine. I wonder
why this SCSI issue doesn't cause a problem on my desktop.
