i tend to use no-break space (00a0) which has dots in two corners in
the usual plan 9 fonts, although
	2420	symbol for space
might be better (i assume it's the traditional symbol) except
that it isn't in the few fonts i tried.  fraction slash (2044) differs
from / although it's perhaps a little subtle.
