However, if you include the source of the libraries (or any other part of the system) that is protected by the license constraints. --upas-nzwlejmykuthrrzjhhubibpfcw Content-Type: message/rfc822 Content-Disposition: inline Received: from plan9.cs.bell-labs.com ([135.104.9.2]) by plan9; Sun Feb 22 04:13:36 EST 2004 Received: from mail.cse.psu.edu ([130.203.4.6]) by plan9; Sun Feb 22 04:13:33 EST 2004 Received: by mail.cse.psu.edu (CSE Mail Server, from userid 60001) id BD0D119CE0; Sun, 22 Feb 2004 04:13:20 -0500 (EST) Received: from psuvax1.cse.psu.edu (psuvax1.cse.psu.edu [130.203.4.6]) by mail.cse.psu.edu (CSE Mail Server) with ESMTP id 160F719C96; Sun, 22 Feb 2004 04:13:16 -0500 (EST) X-Original-To: 9fans@cse.psu.edu Delivered-To: 9fans@cse.psu.edu Received: by mail.cse.psu.edu (CSE Mail Server, from userid 60001) id 0A37719CB8; Sun, 22 Feb 2004 04:12:13 -0500 (EST) Received: from mail.cs.helsinki.fi (courier.cs.helsinki.fi [128.214.9.1]) by mail.cse.psu.edu (CSE Mail Server) with ESMTP id B7F0F19C96 for <9fans@cse.psu.edu>; Sun, 22 Feb 2004 04:12:11 -0500 (EST) Received: from melkki.cs.helsinki.fi (melkki.cs.helsinki.fi [::ffff:128.214.48.122]) (IDENT: root, AUTH: PLAIN cs-relay, TLS: TLSv1/SSLv3,168bits,DES-CBC3-SHA) by mail.cs.helsinki.fi with esmtp; Sun, 22 Feb 2004 11:12:09 +0200 Received: from melkki.cs.helsinki.fi (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by melkki.cs.helsinki.fi (8.12.8/8.12.8) with ESMTP id i1M9C8Wo020919 for <9fans@cse.psu.edu>; Sun, 22 Feb 2004 11:12:08 +0200 Received: (from ekarttun@localhost) by melkki.cs.helsinki.fi (8.12.8/8.12.8/Submit) id i1M9C7te020917 for 9fans@cse.psu.edu; Sun, 22 Feb 2004 11:12:07 +0200 From: Einar Karttunen To: Plan9 ML <9fans@cse.psu.edu> Message-ID: <20040222091206.GA20532@melkki.cs.Helsinki.FI> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline User-Agent: Mutt/1.4.1i Subject: [9fans] Plan9 licence clarification Sender: 9fans-admin@cse.psu.edu Errors-To: 9fans-admin@cse.psu.edu X-BeenThere: 9fans@cse.psu.edu X-Mailman-Version: 2.0.11 Precedence: bulk Reply-To: 9fans@cse.psu.edu List-Id: Fans of the OS Plan 9 from Bell Labs <9fans.cse.psu.edu> List-Archive: Date: Sun, 22 Feb 2004 11:12:06 +0200 X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.63 (2004-01-11) on psuvax1.cse.psu.edu X-Spam-Status: No, hits=0.0 required=5.0 tests=none autolearn=no version=2.63 X-Spam-Level: Hello Does the Plan9 licence ("Lucent Public Licence 1.02") imply any licensing constraints for code linking against code protected by it? That is, can I link against the plan9 code if my code is under a different (BSD) licence? The licence speaks of "the original program" but that sounds quite ambiguous in the case of libraries... - Einar Karttunen --upas-nzwlejmykuthrrzjhhubibpfcw--
