Somehow, IMHO, your sdC0 drive is not being updated with the partitions contained in your plan9 partition. Do you have recent 9load and boot(8)? Have you checked? That would explain why you can use /dev/sdC0/data but not anything inside /dev/sdC0/plan9 --upas-gsukbxjtcpgbotwtswxuiqfkbw Content-Type: message/rfc822 Content-Disposition: inline Received: from mail.cse.psu.edu ([130.203.4.6]) by aquamar; Mon Feb 23 14:51:40 MET 2004 Received: by mail.cse.psu.edu (CSE Mail Server, from userid 60001) id 0B20619A90; Mon, 23 Feb 2004 08:51:24 -0500 (EST) Received: from psuvax1.cse.psu.edu (psuvax1.cse.psu.edu [130.203.4.6]) by mail.cse.psu.edu (CSE Mail Server) with ESMTP id 321EE19B55; Mon, 23 Feb 2004 08:51:19 -0500 (EST) X-Original-To: 9fans@cse.psu.edu Delivered-To: 9fans@cse.psu.edu Received: by mail.cse.psu.edu (CSE Mail Server, from userid 60001) id 9B6A719A9F; Mon, 23 Feb 2004 08:50:29 -0500 (EST) Received: from one.mteege.de (one.mteege.de [81.2.131.61]) by mail.cse.psu.edu (CSE Mail Server) with SMTP id 0FAE719A84 for <9fans@cse.psu.edu>; Mon, 23 Feb 2004 08:50:23 -0500 (EST) Received: (qmail 60141 invoked by uid 66); 23 Feb 2004 13:50:34 -0000 Received: (qmail 53898 invoked from network); 23 Feb 2004 13:49:56 -0000 Received: from gic.mteege.de (HELO mteege.de) (192.168.153.10) by 0 with SMTP; 23 Feb 2004 13:49:56 -0000 Received: (qmail 38333 invoked from network); 23 Feb 2004 13:49:55 -0000 Received: from loco.mteege.de (HELO loco) (192.168.153.22) by 0 with SMTP; 23 Feb 2004 13:49:55 -0000 Message-ID: <00fd5e4a73a8c5b65a7e164f0ab3f3bd@mteege.de> From: Matthias Teege To: 9fans@cse.psu.edu Subject: Re: [9fans] missing venti arenas In-Reply-To: <8e3db087739aa7ab350112348e9493f6@plan9.escet.urjc.es> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Sender: 9fans-admin@cse.psu.edu Errors-To: 9fans-admin@cse.psu.edu X-BeenThere: 9fans@cse.psu.edu X-Mailman-Version: 2.0.11 Precedence: bulk Reply-To: 9fans@cse.psu.edu List-Id: Fans of the OS Plan 9 from Bell Labs <9fans.cse.psu.edu> List-Archive: Date: Mon, 23 Feb 2004 13:46:27 0000 X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.63 (2004-01-11) on psuvax1.cse.psu.edu X-Spam-Status: No, hits=0.0 required=5.0 tests=none autolearn=no version=2.63 X-Spam-Level: On Mon Feb 23 11:24:30 GMT 2004, nemo@plan9.escet.urjc.es wrote: > Don't you see `arenas0' when you do > lc /dev/sdC1 > > if that's the case there's a missing > disk/prep -p /dev/sdC1/data >/dev/sdC1/ctl > in your start script. Hmm, /bin/termrc? It works if I use lib/profile but I think this is the wrong place. I try to build a standalone fossil/venti machine and there is another problem. I setup venti='#S/sdC1/arenas0' in plan9.ini and run venti/conf -w /dev/sdC1/arenas0 venti.conf but at reboot I get: fatal /boot/venti error can't init server ... If I use data instead of arenas0 the server comes up but missing /dev/sdC1/isect0. Snap -a can't connect to venti server. Another hint? Matthias --upas-gsukbxjtcpgbotwtswxuiqfkbw--
