I think it's upas returning the message after trying to deliver it for
48 hours but receiving a "temporary" rejection each time, probably due
to (broken) greylisting or SPF or a full disk.

How often do you run your (outside) mail queue from cron?

I send a message to qwest.net!blahblah and got the same temporary
rejection. I waited 5 minutes and ran the queue by hand and it went
through, so presumably the rejection is due to not retrying often
enough to satisfy greylisting. I assume mine will bounce back soon.
