Limbo does things for you that one wouldn't want in a systems language, and neither is Alef, although the name would fit. Nowadays do we need anything more than a Dis translator? Everyone could learn Dis or MMIX (Knuth's) and be done with it. After all, portability was the main goal. Maybe Forth is the answer ☺
