They show up, you don't know where from, and if the basic tools have ways of coping (as opposed to being graceful and perfect in handling them) you can get by without mystery error messages caused by the operating system rejecting them deep down. I think the setup is sufficient, and sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. -rob
