I tried to access vnc-server on Plan 9 box (cpu/auth) from a
Linux box using

	vncviewer host:0

and the response was

	VNC server supports protocol version 3.3 (viewer 3.3)
	vncviewer: VNC server closed connection

the server on Plan 9 box was started as

	vncs -v
	geometry is 1024x768
	server started on display:0
	announced /net/tcp/22
	received call at /net/tc/23
	init...handshake...server version: RFB 003.003

	client version: RFB 003.003
	auth..vncs: vncchal returned with error

challenge/response works for drawterm and ssh connections.

also which user can access the vncs is not clear to me.

the vncs runs as the user who starts it,
and only that user can connect.

if you started as bootes and logged in
as ishwar, that would explain your problem.

Further progress on vncs on plan9 box and linux client

server started with

	vncs -v

...
client version: RFB 003.003
auth..client is shared
screen 1024x768 [0 0] [1024 768]
16 bpp, 16 depth, 0x51625 chan, 1 truecolor, 0 bigendian
hanshaking done
display chan 0x51625, client chan 0x51625
	translating image format
encoding is zlibtight with copyrect
vncs: don't know about encoding 7

Any ideas?
