Date: Mon, 29 Apr 2002 09:44:28 +0000 Topicbox-Message-UUID: 7f649a68-eaca-11e9-9e20-41e7f4b1d025 I just downloaded the 4th release of Plan 9, and am attempting to get it installed. I'm new to Plan 9, so please pardon me for asking this. The system appears to boot up fine via a boot floppy (to install via CD-ROM), but after the dossrv appears to be started, and I would assume when rio is to started, I get the following messages: vga 52: suicide: sys: trap: fault read addr=0xff0004 pc=0x00026625 vga 55: suicide: sys: trap: fault read addr=0xff0004 pc=0x00026625 rio: can't open display: initdisplay: /dev/draw/new: no frame buffer init: rc exit status: rc 10: rio 67: display open The computer this is happening on has a 3dfx Voodoo3 2000 AGP video card, which I believe is supported. I saw it mentioned amongst the supported PC hardware list, and another post here at comp.os.plan9 mentioned that AGP video cards should work with Plan 9. Is the support only for the PCI version of the Voodoo2 2000 video card? The installation troubleshooting document mentions that a "no frame buffer" message being display, along with the rc shell being started (which is happening to me), means that the video card is not supported. Is this true for the AGP Voodoo3 2000 video cards? What can I do to hopefully get everything working? If any more information about the problem or computer system is required, please let me know. Thank you, CJayC
