The idea is to eventually eliminate all hard-coded paths.  Those files
that still contain them are either in lanugages alien to me (such as
troff), or pertain to platorms with which I am unfamiliar (such as OS
X).  Hopefully, someone who's more familiar with those systems will be
able to snipe off the remaining 5 paths.  Since it's all open source (or
at least well-defined), a hard-coded path count == 0 is theoretically
possible to achieve.
