Subject: [9fans] Sun has a Plan 9 inspired project called "Brazil"!!???
Date: Mon, 27 Nov 2000 12:24:22 +0000 [thread overview]
Message-ID: <8vtj9r$srr$1@nnrp1.deja.com> (raw)
In something which puzzles me as being in between a theft and a
tribute, Sun has a research project that uses Java classes to
implement "servers" with "handlers" and "responses" in a fashion of
9P/Styx file systems, with strong authentication. It even has scripting
with Tcl involved, a la Inferno!
I have yet to find the reason that they have the nerve to call it
Brazil, which is the nickname of Plan 9 release 3! But then again, I
have thought from the beginning, that Java and Inferno should have been
merged into a one commercial product environment by Sun and Lucent co-
operation.
