Wouldn't surprise me, but it seems to work for me. If anyone has a more detailed explanation of what is wrong where, I'll take a look at it.

I don't know much about how 9atom works, but the new plan 9 loader uses el-torito, but version 3 which lets you access the whole cd as an lba device.
