one thing: if you can, bring outlet strips, as we may end up somewhere
that is not REI and be hacking away. It happens. I'm bringing a
stone-age outlet strip without built in surge protection ...

Bring any little fiddly cables that come to mind: I just realized I
don't have a dvi -> analog vga cable for my new mac pro. I don't know
if I can drive the projector.  Ethernet (short) cables. USB cables.
whatever.

If you care about losing stuff you might want to label it ... which I
now realize I forgot to do. Darn.

usb sticks: if you have spare ones you don't care about, and we all
do, bring them.

I'm really hoping we can get some work done at the workshop, given the
fact that it's a workshop.

Skip is there an easel with paper? I might use it.
