BTW, apropos this sad tale, go ahead and install python and mercurial
on your plan 9 system. Then set up a repo on a free place like
bitbucket. Voila, standard tools, which make Plan 9 a better place (at
least for me). Then I don't have to worry about whether I screwed up a
file system setup: that's what distributed repos are for.
