Eli thanks for your comments.  A minimal debian  is installed on EeePC: just the debian core, the X window system,the window manager EVILWM and AQEMU a machine emulator and virtualizer. Using GParted i let a 1MB fat32 partition on the 4GB SSD where the plan9 would be installed. A Sumsung slim external DVD Writer is plugged to the EeePC. With AQEMU i got a 630MHz GenuineIntel PentiumII and the installation procedure of PLAN9 works fine. I am suspecting
the USB cdrom is the problem. The virtual machine emulates an IDE cdrom and not an USB. To bypass the cdrom i will try to do PXE installation of PLAN9 once the bios of EeePC support it.
