IBM's trackpoint, is, in my view, rather different device from usability perspective, and most of the mouse critique in this thread or elsewhere doesn't apply to it, while many of the stated benefits do. I've recently gotten Lenovo's trackpoint keyboard, which, while not being the greatest one I used, lets me use a trackpoint on a desktop machine, which is rather nice. Plan 9 interface in general seems to be very suitable for trackpoint devices.
