I suppose I'll move on without acme. If anyone is ever interested in taking a look at this, you can see from my original post what I am running.

I'm guessing, but it seems the most likely culprit. That, or fontsrv,
which may also have left something that only root can access. Of
course, /mnt/font is a dreadful red herring.
