Topicbox-Message-UUID: 50f264b4-ead7-11e9-9d60-3106f5b1d025 I know that the original request was for online reading about awk, but I can't help adding my recommendation for the offline dead tree version of "The awk Programming Language" by aw&k. I resisted buying it for years, on the grounds of its extraordinary price on Amazon, succumbed eventually, and have never regretted it. The book is a little miracle of clarity in a confused world. And if you don't want to buy that, consider "The Unix Programming Environment" by Kernighan & Pike - chapter 4 covers awk, and the rest of the book covers all of the bits of Unix you needed to know until the lunatics took over the asylum. I buy my books on abebooks. I've bought many gems for $0.99. Looking at the books I've bought, the average price I payed is $4. Yes, it's not a typo. They have some very rare books as well. --=20 Aram H=C4=83v=C4=83rneanu From mboxrd@z Thu Jan 1 00:00:00 1970 MIME-Version: 1.0 In-Reply-To: References: Date: Sun, 25 Dec 2011 12:09:11 -0500 Message-ID: From: Calvin Morrison To: Fans of the OS Plan 9 from Bell Labs <9fans@9fans.net> Content-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary=20cf307d048e711f6404b4edb549 Subject: Re: [9fans] awk reading?
