Really I think that's the internet in a nutshell. Http is like 9p except more complex and less flexible, as is ftp. Email is a mess and in a similar state. I think whatever imitation of namespaces gets done for the net will be in a similar state. -- Veety From mboxrd@z Thu Jan 1 00:00:00 1970 MIME-Version: 1.0 Message-ID: From: "Adrian Regenfuss" To: 9fans@9fans.net Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8 Date: Thu, 14 May 2015 02:35:50 +0200 In-Reply-To: <65b5d2c2ff636420929ad449e38b51a8@styx> References: <65b5d2c2ff636420929ad449e38b51a8@styx> Subject: Re: [9fans] Will the future Internet resemble Plan 9 namespaces? Well, we know what Thompson wanted:
"My ideal for the future is to develop a file system remote interface (à la Plan 9) and
then have it implemented across the Internet as the standard rather than HTML.
That would be ultimate cool."
It would.

I think whatever imitation of namespaces gets done for the net will be in a
similar state.
