i'm a bit paranoid about ether frames jumping the switch somehow, but i guess that's as likely as local snooping while tftping the boot image that has the nvram with creds.

why not use cec(1) from 9atom? this completely solves the console issue
without requiring any expensive or uncommon hardware.
