Hi, On behalf of the iwp9 organizers, I'm happy to announce that iwp9 will be happening on April 21-23, in Waterloo, Ontario. For full, up to date information, keep an eye on the website (https://iwp9.org). Call for Papers --------------- Jan 30: Paper submission deadline Jan 30: Proposals for hackathons and tutorials deadline Feb 13: Paper acceptance notification Feb 27: Works in progress submission deadline Mar 6: WIP acceptance notification Mar 10: Registration deadline Mar 13: Camera ready version April 21-23: Workshop Scope ----- The Plan 9 operating system and related technologies, such as the 9p protocols and the Inferno OS, have gained increased interest due to the recent founding of the Plan 9 Foundation (https://plan9foundation.org) and the publication of Plan 9 and Inferno source code under the MIT open source license. This 2023 edition of the International Workshop on Plan 9 aims to bring together researchers, developers and students working on Plan 9 from Bell Labs or related systems, platforms, and projects, to discuss a wide range of system and application ideas and issues. Suggested topics for papers and discussion include, but are not restricted to, any of the following: - System architecture - System services - Ports to new hardware platforms - File systems and servers - Applications - Projects for other platforms related to Plan 9 - Security issues Types of Submission ------------------- In order to increase the interactivity of the workshop, we intend to offer a hackathon and/or tutorial session in addition to the presentation of regular and short work in progress papers. Please send your proposal to iwp9papers at iwp9.org including the topic and a short abstract of the session, the name(s) of the organizer(s), duration of the session and required infrastructure (e.g. wired/wireless network, power, video projector). Paper Submission Papers of up to 15 pages must be sent to iwp9papers at iwp9.org in PDF format. Please do not forget to include the e-mail address of the contact author. Submissions will be acknowledged via e-mail (please allow for a small delay). Papers must be visually similar to Plan 9 papers that can be found at /sys/doc/ in order to compile a homogeneous proceedings book. Please keep this look and feel, use the same fonts and do not include page numbers. WIP Submission -------------- WIP of up to 3 pages must be set to iwp9wip at iwp9.org in PDF format. Please do not forget to include the e-mail address of the contact author. Submissions will be acknowledged via e-mail (please allow for a small delay). Formatting requirements are the same as for papers. Program and Proceedings ----------------------- An electronic version of the proceedings will be provided to all participants and authors and will be publicly available after the workshop. We are also considering the edition of a printed version with ISBN, to be distributed during the workshop. Registration ------------ The registration deadline is March 10th, 2023. To register, please send an e-mail to iwp9reg at iwp9.org with your name, affiliation and e-mail address, one per line. [-- Attachment #1: Type: text/plain, Size: 1656 bytes --] Hi Ori, A question on iwp9 popped up in the Discord that I can't find an answer to (though I may be missing it), and I figured it'd be good for the mailing list as well: Will this iwp9 be filmed? I see in the "important dates" the "Camera-ready version" for March 13th, but I'm not sure what that refers to. Looking forward to it, Marshall On Tue, Jan 31, 2023 at 11:30 PM <ori@eigenstate.org> wrote: > Quoth ori@eigenstate.org: > > > Call for Papers > > --------------- > > > > Jan 30: Paper submission deadline > > Jan 30: Proposals for hackathons and tutorials deadline > > Feb 13: Paper acceptance notification > > Feb 27: Works in progress submission deadline > > Mar 6: WIP acceptance notification > > Mar 10: Registration deadline > > Mar 13: Camera ready version > > April 21-23: Workshop > > We've gotten a bunch of submissions, but there are several people > who have asked for more time to finish up their papers. It dates from the days of photo-offset printing, where you'd photograph a document and make printing plates from the film negative. khm ------------------------------------------ 9fans: 9fans Permalink: https://9fans.topicbox.com/groups/9fans/Tcb1e8931f4fed60b-M0e9f527a5076eb25e5af51bd Delivery options: https://9fans.topicbox.com/groups/9fans/subscription

I'd love it if someone volunteered to film, but I'm not currently aware of anyone with equipment and a desire to do the editing and upload. Quick status update: We're working on getting all the papers reviewed, and running a bit late. The list should be out soon.
