you're wrong.
addresses passed to telnet should be
interpreted the same way as they are
by all the other programs. there is no
good reason telnet should be different,
except that for some reason you refuse
to type four extra characters. if you want
to do less typing, use
con tcp!host!pop3
instead of
telnet tcp!host!pop3
