interesting because 2 10gig ports, some cat-v, usb, etc.
and open source u-boot drivers.
There's a youtube channel explaining hardware.
I realize it's arm, but, in many ways, still interesting

The platform is NXP Layerscape (i.e. former Freescale design, more
precisely, LS1046A), 9front supports NXP i.MX8.
I have no idea how close they are nowadays, but it could be that it means
little effort.
U-Boot is only partially open. I'd double-check regarding ethernet, if that
interests you. High-speed peripherals are often enough coming with blobs,
so if you want the 10gig ethernet... be prepared.

As a Canadian that would come to $1,000,000 nowadays, I think…
NXP has their GitHub repo for OpenWRT (encountered it at work recently
helping a HW guy with an dev kit):
https://github.com/nxp-qoriq/openwrt
LS1046A is ARM A76

If you find that interesting you might also want to look into the
Avaota A1 by Pine64. The specs sound similar, but Pine has a history
of releasing an SoC and then releasing a device based on the SoC (ie
A64 -> Pinephone, Quart64 -> Pinenote) so there's a reasonable chance
it would give a head start on a.. something. It's based on the
Allwinner T527, so some of the code from the A64 kernel might be
re-useable.
I bought one to play with after the 9phone is usable to get a
headstart in case they make a pinephone2 (3?) based on it, but I
haven't tried anything other than booting the stock android image and
making sure I could get output on the uart.
