(again, this is totally crude; i just extracted the firefox source code, 300MB uncompressed, and then removed it). even allowing for a factor of 10 in drive/driver speed, this still seems like a lot. is there something that can be done about this? maybe i've just got things set up wrong. day to day i don't really use big files so this hadn't impacted me until now. cheers, rog.
