But how do "alice" and "helix" actually deal with this? I resorted to hpps - sparkle hpis2 81920 post2+1200dpi+duplex generic lpdspool lpd - - FIFO - - for my purposes, but it falls short of the intended use. Is there a direct way to talk to such printers? The other significant bit is: # See /sys/lib/postscript/prologues/hpsimx.ps for a fix to make it default regarding duplex operation. The entry being referred to here is missing, the similarly named /sys/lib/postscript/prologues/hp4simx.ps does not seem to provide the promised goods. Is the missing information available elsewhere? ++L
