The IRQs are of course not set correctly (i.e. either all devices have IRQ==0 or some other incoherent arrangement). We want to have the kernel boot IL though, and that we cannot accomplish because the kernel does not receive the interrupts from the ethernet card. If we follow the IRQ arrangement made by a real BIOS then we are able to see _a_ DHCP request being sent out from the box, we see the DHCP reply sent by the server, but the kernel never gets a note about it.
