Subject: [9fans] trouble with /dev/reboot and mp irqs
Date: Tue, 8 Dec 2009 10:53:18 -0500	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <aa6e03459ea79e4b04a5a5f9f595c3fc@ladd.quanstro.net> (raw)

using "echo reboot $kernel>/dev/reboot" with mp irqs,
i'm getting one of three conditions
1. a normal and very quick start of the new kernel.
(one odd bit: lapicerror: 0x00000000. i assume that's
the unanswered ipi.)
2. a reset and not a reboot
3. a hang right after after the LAPIC: ... line.

i can get all three conditions on my little atom
machine. other machines would rather not boot
the new kernel, they either reset or hang.

so the question is, is this a known problem or is
this a hardware or operator error?
