I think the point you keep missing is that this isn't such a massive revamping. It's a simple change that doesn't break any existing scripts; the worst thing that could happen is that new scripts don't run on the old shell, in which case one can update the shell. This really isn't that big of a deal. You're making a mountain out of a molehill. As for your point about writing a new shell. Well, go do it, then. - Dan C.
