Yes and no. If you reset the iPaq with the rocker switch held down, the reset apparently is more thorough in that it also resets the partitions. If you merely push in the reset button (through the little hole at the bottom), without touching any additional buttons, it should not reset your partitions. If your partitions disappear after reset or power cycle, then something must really be wrong.
