Expense is related to how common an occurance the event is. Errors are (hopefully) rare so their expense in supporting imported (IE ape) software is not so unreasonable. I thing texture error messares are one pf plan9's great streangths. I have had sam give "/n/netware/a/b/xxx.c cannot open - file locked" on occasion. File locking is an alien concept to plan9 but I still get the correct and informative error from the imported netware filesystem. -Steve
