I patched p9p acme Mail to have a sort by conversation/subject (http://codereview.appspot.com/264043/show), so if what you want is being able to delete a bunch of messages with the same subject it's very easy to do in one mouse swipe once they're all grouped together by this sort. Of course that does not really help with spam because they won't have the same subject, only similar ones all matching "viagra", as in your example. I've been using it the whole time since then, no issue so far. Hope that helps, Mathieu --upas-uswhgvxsmhksxguxcrpvdrqjbw Content-Type: message/rfc822 Content-Disposition: inline Return-Path: X-Original-To: mpl@smgl.fr.eu.org Delivered-To: mpl@smgl.fr.eu.org Received: by serenity.smgl.fr.eu.org (Postfix, from userid 65534) id B0A0F32CFC; Tue, 25 May 2010 17:56:08 +0200 (CEST) X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 3.2.5 (2008-06-10) on serenity.smgl.fr.eu.org X-Spam-Level: X-Spam-Status: No, score=-2.4 required=1.0 tests=AWL,BAYES_00,DRUGS_ERECTILE autolearn=no version=3.2.5 Received: from mail-iw0-f182.google.com (mail-iw0-f182.google.com [209.85.214.182]) by serenity.smgl.fr.eu.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 99F6032CF3 for ; Tue, 25 May 2010 17:56:07 +0200 (CEST) Received: by iwn5 with SMTP id 5so5237764iwn.41 for ; Tue, 25 May 2010 08:56:06 -0700 (PDT) Received: by 10.231.125.129 with SMTP id y1mr4661088ibr.96.1274802966254; Tue, 25 May 2010 08:56:06 -0700 (PDT) X-Forwarded-To: mpl@smgl.fr.eu.org X-Forwarded-For: mathieu.lonjaret@gmail.com mpl@smgl.fr.eu.org Delivered-To: mathieu.lonjaret@gmail.com Received: by 10.231.10.198 with SMTP id q6cs115429ibq; Tue, 25 May 2010 08:56:04 -0700 (PDT) Received: by 10.101.132.36 with SMTP id j36mr8321092ann.128.1274802964227; Tue, 25 May 2010 08:56:04 -0700 (PDT) Received: from gouda.swtch.com (gouda.swtch.com [67.207.142.3]) by mx.google.com with ESMTP id 4si2958744gxk.72.2010.05.25.08.56.02; Tue, 25 May 2010 08:56:03 -0700 (PDT) Received-SPF: pass (google.com: domain of 9fans-bounces+mathieu.lonjaret=gmail.com@9fans.net designates 67.207.142.3 as permitted sender) client-ip=67.207.142.3; Authentication-Results: mx.google.com; spf=pass (google.com: domain of 9fans-bounces+mathieu.lonjaret=gmail.com@9fans.net designates 67.207.142.3 as permitted sender) smtp.mail=9fans-bounces+mathieu.lonjaret=gmail.com@9fans.net; dkim=pass (test mode) header.i=@gmail.com Received: from localhost ([127.0.0.1] helo=gouda.swtch.com) by gouda.swtch.com with esmtp (Exim 4.69) (envelope-from <9fans-bounces@9fans.net>) id 1OGwTP-0003TK-NA; Tue, 25 May 2010 15:55:19 +0000 Received: from mail-wy0-f177.google.com ([74.125.82.177]) by gouda.swtch.com with esmtp (Exim 4.69) (envelope-from ) id 1OGwTO-0003TF-7Y for 9fans@9fans.net; Tue, 25 May 2010 15:55:18 +0000 Received: by wyb40 with SMTP id 40so193723wyb.36 for <9fans@9fans.net>; Tue, 25 May 2010 08:55:12 -0700 (PDT) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=gmail.com; s=gamma; h=domainkey-signature:mime-version:received:received:in-reply-to :references:date:message-id:subject:from:to:content-type; bh=w9Bj0xVmFh5bzejf/MuUF1Eh48LjRyKhNT+5YVwiYsk=; b=l0N7nDBWR2JkGQEURsLofla6E86BNOXaS97AGrwTbcex4GDdGoxAiAnYnvfiXl2+z1 iBhcbQA+4VE1ctCpFtj9Xum8HlJ5v+78504t6xMRqS2//eAHsu1xR50in03fzBUbDmI6 965PBTXfeWC4nOQP7sAsqcyPi8Qtki5FE9qPE= DomainKey-Signature: a=rsa-sha1; c=nofws; d=gmail.com; s=gamma; h=mime-version:in-reply-to:references:date:message-id:subject:from:to :content-type; b=yAvpHzio4LPSZWGhkwJ0EN3ybcvF2AbfVW0UdnwbCGFyjJjfplN1bS5EZz/YixSBrS Sc/xbAjchdzn9qSgtPSvlorPAZINtogGM0vnVqfYMJq0/z/v3TTt6wBzlPH6rK1Fc7BD dih4LdCtPtD/GvDm9MPMnaRqawYTX1lcEjsxs= MIME-Version: 1.0 Received: by 10.216.85.194 with SMTP id u44mr4667932wee.10.1274802910268; Tue, 25 May 2010 08:55:10 -0700 (PDT) Received: by 10.216.60.148 with HTTP; Tue, 25 May 2010 08:55:10 -0700 (PDT) In-Reply-To: <10caf3b0e93d00aa4a59d7f28275edc9@9netics.com> References: <10caf3b0e93d00aa4a59d7f28275edc9@9netics.com> Date: Tue, 25 May 2010 08:55:10 -0700 Message-ID: From: ron minnich To: Fans of the OS Plan 9 from Bell Labs <9fans@9fans.net> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Subject: Re: [9fans] Acme Mail X-BeenThere: 9fans@9fans.net X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.10 Precedence: list Reply-To: Fans of the OS Plan 9 from Bell Labs <9fans@9fans.net> List-Id: Fans of the OS Plan 9 from Bell Labs <9fans.9fans.net> List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , Sender: 9fans-bounces@9fans.net Errors-To: 9fans-bounces+mathieu.lonjaret=gmail.com@9fans.net On Tue, May 25, 2010 at 8:42 AM, Skip Tavakkolian <9nut@9netics.com> wrote: > i was wrong; it doesn't work. I wanted a way to match a subject and delete all messages on that subject. There was no apparent way. the conclusion was that we needed a way to say "middle button action" in a command line. Russ kindly offered to take a patch if someone would write it. So we could say something like x/viagra/whatever where whatever corresponded to 'middle-button-Del' or some such. You can't just change what's in the window AFAIK. That's a reflection of state, not the state itself. ron --upas-uswhgvxsmhksxguxcrpvdrqjbw--
