The cylinder number was 1023 because that's the largest one you can write. It is the "large drive placeholder" which really means "there's no C/H/S-expressible address; use the LBA". Unless they have found somewhere to put two more bits of C. Sigh. I wish this were documented _somewhere_. Russ
