If the latter, try logging in as none, which will not start vga. Then type ed /rc/bin/termrc /vga a echo hwaccel off >/dev/vgactl . w q fshalt and reboot and log in as glenda. The problem is that the video driver is trying to use hardware acceleration to speed things up, but it apparently doesn't support your card. We should make the driver turn off hardware acceleration after the first message is printed. Russ
