I myself have seen it happen on one or two different systems, but never reliably. (One of them broke=20 reliably, but only until I became interested in looking at the problem.) I have a plausible explanation for what is going on and a bug fix that would test the explanation, but I don't want to go poking around in the dark. Does anyone have a machine where rc reliably errors out at the end of ./INSTALL? Thanks. Russ
