I think we just need to look back in time. I think we need to think more about permissions before going crazy expanding /srv. --upas-cytvvmbypoypqiurmwqicbtsdn Content-Type: message/rfc822 Content-Disposition: inline Received: from plan9.cs.bell-labs.com ([135.104.9.2]) by plan9; Sun Mar 7 11:37:22 EST 2004 Received: from mail.cse.psu.edu ([130.203.4.6]) by plan9; Sun Mar 7 11:37:20 EST 2004 Received: by mail.cse.psu.edu (CSE Mail Server, from userid 60001) id F28CD19E17; Sun, 7 Mar 2004 11:37:17 -0500 (EST) Received: from psuvax1.cse.psu.edu (psuvax1.cse.psu.edu [130.203.4.6]) by mail.cse.psu.edu (CSE Mail Server) with ESMTP id 34F8A19B43; Sun, 7 Mar 2004 11:37:13 -0500 (EST) X-Original-To: 9fans@cse.psu.edu Delivered-To: 9fans@cse.psu.edu Received: by mail.cse.psu.edu (CSE Mail Server, from userid 60001) id 194F419DC7; Sun, 7 Mar 2004 11:36:14 -0500 (EST) Received: from plan9.9netics.com (unknown [64.91.109.37]) by mail.cse.psu.edu (CSE Mail Server) with ESMTP id 8C97A19D66 for <9fans@cse.psu.edu>; Sun, 7 Mar 2004 11:36:09 -0500 (EST) Message-ID: To: 9fans@cse.psu.edu From: 9nut@9netics.com MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Subject: [9fans] directories in server registry (#s) Sender: 9fans-admin@cse.psu.edu Errors-To: 9fans-admin@cse.psu.edu X-BeenThere: 9fans@cse.psu.edu X-Mailman-Version: 2.0.11 Precedence: bulk Reply-To: 9fans@cse.psu.edu List-Id: Fans of the OS Plan 9 from Bell Labs <9fans.cse.psu.edu> List-Archive: Date: Sun, 7 Mar 2004 09:36:32 -0800 X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.63 (2004-01-11) on psuvax1.cse.psu.edu X-Spam-Status: No, hits=0.3 required=5.0 tests=NO_REAL_NAME autolearn=no version=2.63 X-Spam-Level: Would supporting subdirectories in /srv be a bad idea? It seems because of '#s's global nature, it would be useful if an application (or its user) could confine itself to a subdirectory. Perhaps too much kernel overhead for the convenience it provides?
