Sun, of course, has (at least for the Sparc version of Solaris) the same kind of hardware vendor support Apple has, though I forgot to mention them (and also DEC, or what's left of DEC after it got swallowed a couple of times). It's interesting that Linux would support USB mice and keyboards, precisely because they don't have much hardware vendor support.
