do you see the drive in "pci -v" output?

i had a similar issue on x230. i got a mpcie to m.2 adapter,
but the bios has a whitelist and wont allow a nvme drive
in this slot.

i solved it by flashing a hacked bios that removed these
restrictions.

i'm now using a x230 motherboard without display or keyboard
as my file server in this configuration, using serial console
over intel me thing for console access.
