In the end it was all about permission problems. /mail/box/chris/... seems to be used as 'none' again. Requires read and write permissions for other. I will probably play a bit with auth/box and 'auth/as upas' to get sane permissions configuration. Thanks to all folks helping here. You did a great service to a desperate mail server pleb. chris
