He probably means the giant leaps when you wheel-scroll near the bottom of the window. With bar scrolling, the fact you use an 'odd' button is a reminder that something funny is about to happen - xterm-style scrolling. With the wheel, there's no such warning. I like it though. Random observation: I don't know if it's deliberate, but right-click in the scroll bar to go-to... comports nicely with the fact that generally everywhere else in Plan 9, right-click means go-to.
