The 9front installer defaults to 32 bit. If you haven't followed thie instructions in http://fqa.9front.org/fqa8.html#8.9, you're probably still on a 32 bit install. Echo $objtype to confirm. It will say '386' on a 32 bit x86 install, or 'amd64' on a 64 bit install.
