I'm curious, where are you seeing the flash? I remember it from when I first started using Plan 9, but a patch to speed up the vesa driver made it too fast to see. This was all before 9front. I think I've seen it with 9front too, but can't remember where. (I have no problem with the patch. I always thought the needless redraw a bit of a waste even if it didn't matter to me.)
