Dear Christoph,

would you mind sharing the assembly code? It would be interesting to see if OCaml generates x87 style stack based FPU code, or more modern SSE style register based code. Also it would be interesting to know how gcc was configured (for what kind of floating point code). For floating point stuff, the configuration of the CPU can have very substantial impact on the result.
