C'est déjà fait :-)

        http://cristal.inria.fr/~remy/whizzytex/

WhizzyTeX works with gv, xdvi or advi, but it is only pleasant when using the
Advi previewer (other previewers redraw in foreground, which make the window
flash).

Moreover, Advi can transform click positions into source file positions,
which WhizzyTeX can use, as you say, to turn a click in the Advi window into
the expected action in Emacs: visit the corresponding buffer and move to the
source position of the click (whenever possible).

I am waiting for the upcoming release of Advi to release whizzytex as well.
