Just copy the code and make the changes you need to your
renamed function. Since you are writing a HTTP library, you
must be careful about line endings anyway, since the HTTP
standard defines the terminator as <CR><LF>, which the more or
less broken impementations your code will be talking to may
or may not implement correctly.
